Review: January transfers

The January window has always been an opportunity for European clubs to bring in new players to help drive their positive ambitions that might be under threat or to offload players who might be deemed as surplus to requirements. The transfer window rarely comes with big money moves and major signings as clubs opt to hold […]

The Much rumoured transfer deal involving players Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh mkhitaryan in a swap deal that would see the former heading to Manchester United while the latter joins Arsenal seems imminent.        Alexis Sanchez whose contract with Arsenal is set to run out at the end of the season is said to have […]

http://A legend

It will be remembered that on 17/01/2018 was when the legendary Brazilian icon and football great Ronaldinho officially hanged his boots.
The maestro famous for his amazing dribbling skills, and the “no-look pass” confirmed his officiall retirement from football through his brother who doubles up as his agent.
He retires from the football scene having enjoyed a somewhat successful career -though many think he would have achieved more- Having played for top European clubs in PSG,Barcelona and Ac Milan.
It is at Barcelona where the maestro had his most successful spell, winning every possible title that included The uefa champions league, the spanish cup,la liga and the fifa club world cup.All this came along with individual titles such as the balon d’or and the pichichi ( spanish for top scorer).
At international level,Ronaldinho played a key role in helping Brazil win the 2002 world cup having formed a Powerful partnership with Ronaldo lima,The pair were a nightmare to defenders in the tournament.
After his stint at Ac Milan, the player who some reffer to as Gaucho instead of Ronaldinho, moved to Mexico before representing a few other clubs in his homeland Brazil. He has since then been seen in various charity tournaments and matches and in the “Barca legends squad”.
Fans Will be hoping this “official announcement” does not mean Gaucho will never step out onto the field to play again.Despite aging,he still has the skill and passion in him.

The greatest,The ,best, phenomenon, top player… There has never been enough words to describe the Argentine and Barcelona player Lionel messi.5 ballon d’ or titles to his name, several individual accolades and a number of titles won at club level.Only Real Madrids’ Cristiano Ronaldo has the ability and talent to compete against him.

In the just concluded world cup qualifiers,Argentina were on the verge of missing out on qualification for Russia 2018 meaning the world cup would miss the iconic star player,-many wouldn’t imagine a world cup without Messi-.
In their final game, which was a must win for them to feature in the world cup,Messi stepped out -as he does- to show the world why he is one of the best the world has ever seen.I would say the player individually dragged his country’s team to the world cup as he grabbed a hat trick to give them the win over an organised Ecuador side.Having conceded in the opening minutes of the game, the players would have given up but the presence of Messi in the squad gives them the hope of some magic (Messi magic).

Again,he has been nominated for the ballon d’or award this season and he is expected to battle it out against his rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who has edged him out for the award in the last two years. He continues to score goals and winning games with Barcelona as he hopes for another trophy laden campaign despite having lost one of his heralded attacking partner in Neymar jr last summer.

Football fans are set once again for the late night football treatment as the UEFA champions league returns this Tuesday (12th September).
Dubbed the “league of the elite”,the champions league features the top teams from all the European domestic leagues who battle it out for the big-ear trophy.
Last Season’s champions real madrid fc will kick off their title defending campaign on Wednesday night against APOEL as they seek to become the first ever football club to win the cup thrice in a row.But they will have to see of Tottenham Hotspur and borussia Dortmund who are also in their group.
Top England sides Manchester united and Chelsea fc will be making a comeback to the league with both missing out last season after they failed to qualify. The two teams will be seeking to prove their quality on the European platform when they kickoff their respective campaigns. However, Going to the recent champions league performances,England teams have not recorded the best of results, with the last trophy coming to England in 2012 with Chelsea fc. will we see a change or will it be another season of Spanish dominance, lets wait and see.

Who will stop Madrid?

Over the past two seasons we have witnessed Real Madrid winning the la decima and the un decima in a row….making them the first club to win the UEFA champions league in back to back seasons which confirmed them the best team in Europe at the moment. This season, the situation has not changed alot…Real madrid still look like they […]
